Woods 750 backhoe attachment

The 750 could be a little smaller or the same as the one that I have on my Kubota. Conventional wisdom is that it is much better to attach them through a subframe that ties into the rear and middle of the tractor instead of the three point arms. You would most likely have to get the frame designed and built by a fabrication shop.

Looking to attach a 750 woods backhoe to a Ford NAA. Has anyone done this and or have any advice?
Had a neighbor do that with a Kelly Backhoe and he had to replace the center housing of the rear end due to the fact the backhoe broke the center housing where the center lick hooked due to the extra wear and tear of the backhoe. 3 point backhoes are very hard on a tractor and if used hard can and will destroy a small tractor like the NAA. That all said I do have a late 1950 8N ford that has a loader and backhoe on it. I call it the nerd. It does okay and gets around okay as long as you don't use 4th gear since in 4th the front wheels are off the ground as much as on the ground. As far as going backwards it it easier to use the backhoe to pull it where I want it

3 pt backhoes put a lot of stress on the top link of the tractor, and they put a lot of stress on the frame of the tractor right about where your feet are when sitting on the normal tractor seat.

The older Ford tractors do not have very strong top link ears. As well as other models of tractors.

Some compact newer tractors do not have a very strong center frame using just a small cast gearbox as the frame, rough backhoe use can crack this small frame area.

These are the common break points of tractors with 3pt backhoes.

I do not like to make comments with out making sure of some of my facts, SO......

I took the time to do a little research before I tried to answer your question. A 750 woods Hoe weighs around 850 lbs and your Ford NAA weighs around 2600 lb. The hoe needs to set about 24" from behind the tractor and it weighs almost one 3rd of the weight of the tractor. We owned a small tractor similar to ta FORD NAA. Speaking from experience if you hang that much weight that far off of the back of the tractor you will have trouble keeping the front end on the ground.

So I took the time to look at a NAA Ford tractor to verify my concerns on the strength of the 3Pt. The 3pt is very light and I can not see it holding up to the weight of a Hoe attachment.

I have to agree with the other Commentators and say NO. Its just not safe. "Sorry, if this is discouraging"

According to the web (if info on the web is correct) the 3PH lift capacity of a Ford NAA is officially 800 pounds. If that hoe weighs 850 pounds as stated in the prior post I would say it is a no-go. Especially when the weight of a hoe is well behind the lift.

About 1970 Dad bought a new "Howard Power Arm"(remember the Howard Rotavator Company?) although, I think this backhoe was either built by, or in conjunction with the McConnel Power Arm company.
We ran it behind a JD 2510 gas. That was a good combination, however, even that tractor was light on the front. I wouldn't want to hang it on anything smaller. Later we ran it with some of the bigger diesel tractors. But some of them would begin to slobber sitting there running for hours at about 1500 RPM.
