woods mower identification

Looks like you already asked this question on another forum and got a pretty good response, although probably not the one you wanted.

This came up when I searched on that mower #.

well i hope you dont intend to cut very tall grass, with it,i got a 60 inch on B Farmall, i got 170 lbs of compression, that will u it down in thick tall grass!

I'm not familiar with the model of mower you list but a Cub pto turns backwards to most other model PTO's so if the mower wasn't build for a Cub it wont work.

recently got email from woods the only finishing mower that fits a cub is model 59c. sorry to say the one im looking at isn't it

Well that's not entirely true, but you also have to remember that it's been 44 years since the last Cub was manufactured. Most people that work at Woods weren't even born yet, and they have a whole line of current products to be responsible for so they may not have all the historical data right on the tips of their tongues.

There are multiple variations of the Woods 42 mower that will fit on a Cub.

hat is maybe true, depending on how you look at it. The 59 is a finishing mower, while the 42 is more of a rough-cut mower. So the guy that said a 59 is the only finishing mower for a Cub is arguably correct. It depends on how you ask the question.

My Farmall C came with a 59 inch woods.
I found a 72 inch woods that came off a Farmall H. Modified it to work on the Farmall C.
My Dad's cub used a 48 inch woods. Some Cubs may have used a smaller woods.

I've run a Woods L306, which is a 72 inch mower on my BN for well over 35 years.

I mow around 5 acres of lawn with it. Don't let it get too tall, maybe six inches, before mowing most of the time.

is your deck lower in the front than the back because you want the blade cutting lower in front been mowing with a WOODS 59 on a B for over 50years

Not sure if this question was aimed at me but my best answer would be: "Probably".

As I did follow Woods directions when I installed it, but that was many moons ago! To be totally honest the deck has been abused a bit by poor operator(me) getting too close to trees and other obstacles in the "yard". So thinking I might remove it and check over real good once mowing season is finished.
