The Craig's List ad has a nice looking steam engine in the background.
Back in the 1970's my boss had an old F-20 with an Oldsmobile nail head engine and automatic transmission ahead of the regular transmission. He had bolted scaffolding on it for siding and shingling jobs. The foreman said he had it up to what seemed like 50 MPH but the steering was so loose no one was willing drive it to any job sites.

Not to nitpick, but the nailhead was a Buick engine. Oldsmobiles were Rockets. Not that it matters in the context.

Am I the only one that doesn't know what gave those engines the nick names Oldsmobile Rocket and the Buick Nail head engine. I remember the description Rocket being used but never questioned it.

Buick “nail head” was a nickname because the valve stems were nearly vertical in the engine heads and resembled nails in a board. For the Oldsmobile, “Rocket” was an “actual” name given to them by the manufacturer, like a Chevy “Blue Flame” 6 cylinder. And speaking of nicknames, Chevy sixes had the nickname “Stove bolt” because the slot head screws used to fasten the tin work on was said to resemble bolts for stoves.

Chevy small block Turbo Fire and big block Turbo Jet. Nicknamed the mouse and the rat. Dodge had the "leaning tower of power" or the "lazy 6". Chrysler elephant. Buick nailheads were also called the Wildcat. There are tons of those names. Jeep Hurricane. Who had the commando? Was that AMC or Chrysler?

Thanks used red MN, that makes sense. I forgot about the stove bolt Chevy.
Small diameter of exhaust valves is also part of nailhead lore.
