Follow up from my thread about low C3 pressure from last week.
Jd finally got my gaskets and I got the 4440 back together. When the oil is cold I can get c3 pressure to jump around. It may be 50psi, then if I sit there and hold the clutch in (I know it's really the inching pedal) the pressure may rise a little or it may not. I had it in 1st with clutch in, then let out, pushed in, let out a few times and the pressure went to 180, so I let off the clutch and it dropped to 50.
Once the oil gets warm you really can't get the psi to move around much. With warm oil it's very easy to get 1st-4th to slip. I had to go on the road because fields and driveways are all snow. If you hold either brake you can get them to slip. But you can not get 7th to slip. You can idle down in 7th, hold one brake and throttle up and it will slip and drag the tractor sideways, it will not slip.
How can 1-4 slip easy at 50psi, but 7th won't slip at 50psi??
Are you still thinking the first plate is warped by c3 piston?
