Yanmar 147 Gear Unit

I am trying to change the gear unit tack on my 147. I have taken off the three bolts holding the unit but am having no luck in getting it off. I am able to spin the unit around but not able to get it to come off. I have tried to pry it off but ended up breaking off one of the corners. Does anyone have any ideas?

I changed mine on my 2002.
