Problem is white wire from pos side of starter solenoid which has a fuse in it before it goes to ammeter. engine starts fine after running a few minutes ammeter drops its charge from 8volts down to zero. white wire from solenoid to inline fuse wire melts were it connects to fuse only on the side it enters in, fuse does not melt very perplexing any ideas out there?

Any time a fuse melts at the end cap is an indication of a bad fuse holder. There is a poor connection and it builds heat, melting the solder out of the fuse.

Go to the auto supply and find a new fuse holder. A blade type holder will be less troublesome than an inline. Get the highest amp rating holder (largest wire size) that the proper amp fuse will fit. Look for one with a weather cover to protect it.

Make good connections, soldered if possible, heat shrink insulated.
