Yellow Paint?

Folks, another question on my 1952 AR restoration. As we clean off all the years of grease buildup, we are finding small bits of the green paint flaking off in some spots. Underneath we are finding yellow paint nearly everywhere. Is this normal and expected? Did they prime coat the tractors with yellow, then slap the green over top?

The later tractors starting around yours ? some of the castings were sealed with yellow. Earlier ones
used red.

It is green

Probably nothing special then. Usually if it is any color but green under the hood it had a special paint job.

Inside of crank case were yellow so if inside was yellow I would think
outside would also be yellow.
