ym 1500 weights

I just purchased a new to me yanmar 1500. So far it seems like just what i was looking for. However with the 4' bush hog attached the front end will not stay on the ground. Anyone have any suggestions for front end weight? How much weight?

The weights are called suitcase weights --

They are pretty universal and just slide over the front bumper. Most local Deere or Kubota dealers will stock them so you dont have to pay shipping. How much weight just depends on your setup but I think a lot of people here are using 150- 200 pounds.

I have 5- 40# weights on my Ym2000B. The YM240 op manual calls for 220# max on my 1664# tractor. Your 1500 weighs 1333#. Anything else looks junky, (non-propessional <E>:wink:</E>).

I have two suitcase weights on the front bumper of my YM1500. I have a 4 foot bush hog and have no problem with the front lifting off the ground. I suggest starting with two weights, see if that takes care of your problem, and, if not, add more weights.

I had a 1/4" steel box made 18"L x 9"W and bolted it to the front using the availble holes. If I am using the tiller I add weieght in the box or take it out when not needed. I have $75 in the box.
