YM 220 Ignition problem

I have a YM 220 that will not crank. I have replaced the battery and checked the safety switches and fuses. It is getting power to the solenoid but the power cuts off when the ignition switch is moved to crank. Does this sound like it might be the ignition switch, and if so, is there any way I can check it?

With the key turned to start there should be continuity between the 2 terminals on the solenoid, as if jumpering with a screw driver or pliers. If not, you need to find out why.

When you try to crank it do your headlights go off also? If so, it could be a bad connection.
