I am looking at buying a ym147d but I don't know anything about Yanmar tractors. I thought I knew most tractor makes but not this one. My concern is about quality of these units and availability of parts in Canada. Please let me know if these are a good unit or should I be looking at a more well know brand.

Yanmar has made more diesels than any other brand in history, but the popularity of brands is always local. So while there's tons around, that could conceivably be the only one on your island.

I don't know that model except it's a 4WD and made for export (not grey market), so you can get all the English-language factory manuals for it.

There's a Yanmar tractor parts distributor somewhere in Quebec, but their prices are so I that I order mine from the US. This site's Hoye Tractor is excellent, but there are others closer to you if you buy it.

There's nothing wrong with Yanmars as a make but the issue of older ones is always individual condition, and that we can't help you much with.

Thanks Alan. This one was made between 84 and 89 and has about 850 hours come with a blower, flair mower and a new grader blade for 7000. What do you think?

Asking price seems way high. An attachment package is good, but those three aren't particularly high-cost ones.

A flail mower is more for brush than lawn. And the hours could be 850, 2850, or 5850.

What would you be using it for?

I would be using it for home use only and it also comes with with turf and agro tires mounted.

A little curious here. Two different words being used. Flair mower and flail mower. Are these the same?

Of course, but what home use?

A second set of mounted tires is worth as much as any of those attachments but I think $7k is still high.

It's the attachments that do the work, and they can readily be bought and sold. But a blower is rare, so if you wouldn't have use for it, it might not be so easy to get rid of.

As for "flair" I assumed he misheard or mistyped.

No loader? For $7000, I would expect a loader. $5000 would sound more reasonable for a 14hp, 20+ year-old tractor. What little I have heard about flail mowers they sound like a maintenance nightmare.

Don't know the size of your area but for that money you could get a garden tractor with mower, snow blower, and cart. New. And a shovel.

Just bought a YM147D with 4' rototiller and 4' snowblower as well as 4' belly mower for $3,500. That appeared to be a fair deal as far as I was concerned. I would love to buy a FEL for it, but so far unable to locate one.
