YM186D Broken steering tube

I have the old style tube and I ordered steering shaft and bearings to fix steering box. Noticed that the tube was broken at the weld to the nut so I assume water got in there and froze. I noticed HT didn't have a replacement part in stock so I was wanting to know if anyune heard of this being welded back. Thanks

If welded once I don't see why not twice but never heard of that break before.

Actually looked like more of a brazing so I was wondering if they were dissimilar metals.
