YM2000 loader question

The loader on my YM2000 operates very slowly. I just bought it (hopefully didn't buy a lemon) and was wondering what thoughts there are about potential problems. Seems to lift load OK, had a bucket full of dirt and was able to lift it. The lift as well as the dump are real slow. The loader is a Bulldog 285.

3 point lifts my 5' bush-hog OK

Weak pump (don't think so)? Leaking seals in the joy-stick or cylinders? Is this just the nature of the beast.

thanks.

It's not the nature of the beast. Can you get any info from the seller? Do the hoses have quick-connect terminals?

Fluid could be wrong kind, amount, or cleanliness. Could be a problem (obstruction or internal or external leak) in a hose, connector, or controller. Less likely to be a bad pump.

Bought it off an individual, it's not a recon so no dealer help here. Probably my mistake but good price compared to recon. Hopefully won't blow the difference on repairs, but this is the only issue I've found with it.

Where's the screen? in the tranny or at the pump? I've found the line running from the tranny to the pump but don't recall seeing anything that looks like a Y-strainer etc. Waiting on my Oper and Service Manuals to show up.

I'm leaning towards leaky o-rings in the joystick controller. Bucket doesn't bleed down if left eleveated and then tractor shut-off. Tells me piston seals are good.

I can check the strainer easy before pulling the controller and taking it to a shop, if I can find it <E>:)</E>

I have a 285 on my ym2002d. I wouldn't classify it as slow unless you don't have your rpms built up. Slow rpms = slow lift or dump. Your screen is on the front of the transmission down at the bottom behind a triangular cover with three bolts.
