YM2210 fuel tank vent

I recently replaced the fuel cap on my 2210. Now after a hour or so of running the tractor, the fuel tank is squeezing in, like it has negative pressure. If I loosen the cap, it is fine for a while. Should there be some kind of vent in the tank?

Thanks

Larry

The vents were originally in the fuel tank screen. There was a tiny hole in the side of the lip of the screen. For some reason those holes were eventually eliminated and the problem you are having is common. You can either leave your cap a little loose or cut a very small slit in the face of the screen. See description in the link below.

The cap with the gauge vents nicely but can allow water in if left outside in the right (wrong) conditions.

Thanks Aaron. I don't think that there is a screen in the fuel tank (the tractor is at a local state park where I volunteer). I will check it later. So will the addition of the screen solve my problem, or do I still need to cut a slit in it?

The new screens do not have the hole so you will still need to leave the cap loose or cut a split in the screen's lip.
