Ym240D not moving

So I had a leak from the gear shift gasket on my ym 240D. So I removed the 4 bolts and pulled the gear shift straight up. Cleaned up old gasket and replaced with new. Placed gear shift back in its place. Now tractor won't move and and wants to die if I let the clutch out when in gear

You have more than one gear engaged. You will have to remove the cover. Make sure all forks are in proper gears and in neutral position. Then put shifter in neutral position and install. Check before tightening down. https://www.hoyetractor.com/CTGY/2000SHIFT.htm
