You were right, that didn't work

I posted a while back about the water trap leaking on the diesel tank on the new to me super88 Oliver. I cleaned it up good and put JB Weld on it and it didn't leak until I pressure washed it today and hit it with the pressure washer. It was peeing a small stream while I drove it into the shed and got a funnel, hose and fuel can to catch what fuel was left in the tank. Glad I didn't fill it!!!

Yes, that is my experience with JB on fuel leaks. Tried it several times. Works for a short while, and then leaks Others must get a superior grade of JB or just repeat what they read?

By cleaned up good you mean removed and taken apart, correct? Otherwise you are trying to make the JB stick to oil.

I have an old Gravely walk behind. The gas tank got pinhole leak in it. Used a wire brush on an angle grinder to clean and scuff on the surface. Put JB weld on the spot. Let it cure for a week. It held for about a year, then started leaking again. Time to braze it shut.

On my first 8n, the tank had 2 spots with pin holes. I cleaned them up real good (tank on tractor) and cut 2 round patches out of furnace duct. applied Seal-All to the patches and wedged in place with 2x4s. Let them sit for 24 hrs. then added gas. They were there for at least 10 years before I sold the tractor. If I were going to use JB Weld, I would use it to glue a patch on. Bet it would never leak again.
