just for fun, whats your favorite model A, they made many varations over the years
unstyled, early styled, war A , slant dash, or late styled A, or anther one i didnt name,

early unstyled are really collectiable, early styled, like slant dashed, dont seem to sell that high
in my area, the 2 stick A seem ok,
and the late styled. single stick with the creeper 1st gear seems to sell the best,

whats your favorite? thanks

"Easy" 1946 slant dash A.

I have two As. An early 1935 made just after the open fan shaft was discontinued and a mid-51 A. When I was a kid I would hate to be seen driving that old clunker 35 A. Now it can be a parade tractor. My favorite is the 51 because it is so much more refined. I also have a late 630 which is the end of the progression from the A and even more refined but I still like the 51 A the best.

I do not have any unstyled tractors, but I do have a 1949 A and a 1953 AR. The late styled AR (1953) has an engine more like the 60 than the late styled A. Late styled AR does have a single barrel carb but it has a live hydraulic pump like the 60 as well as a factory water pump.

I have three-- a '36, a '42 long hood, and a '52. I like them all, but the '42 is probably my favorite because it's identical to the '46 my Dad had, which was his first tractor. The '36 was MY first tractor, so I have a soft spot for that one too.
My son likes the '52. I expect that will probably be his some day.

I don't have an A and doubt that I will get there but if things went right then an open fan shaft A and a late A above serial number 700000.

I have an early 1952 "A" no water pump, Roll-O-Matic. It was the first tractor I ever bought that ran and I drove it home about 7 miles. Over the years it has been overhauled and kind of painted. I always thought that my 1947 "GM" would be my favorite tractor when I got it done, now I think it is just too big for me and the "A" is still my favorite.

1948 cyclone twin stick, but I like the gear speeds of a single stick better.. One can do some changing with the belt pulley & 1st reduction gear & slow a twin stick transmission down some by using parts from a single stick transmission..

If the live hydraulics is what you want, you can put the late AR governor (which is the same as a 60) on any row crop A #584000+ (And actually, with some creative plumbing of oil lines in the crankcase, I think it would work on ANY A). I put one on a 1949 A row crop tractor, bolts right on. I have the tractor running, but the hydraulic isn't plumbed in yet. The plan is to plumb it in the same as the add on pump that goes behind the distributor.

Always had a thing for slant dashes. Never was really excited about the creeper gear A, which is ironic since I own one at the moment. I also have a 1949 A that will be +/- 1/3 of a 60 if I get all the parts swapped that I plan too. Wanting to put together a 6 speed unstyled A at some point and throw a few hot rod parts in for good measure.
