Going to doing a first run on my rebuilt Case 188D pretty soon. I already filled the crankcase with oil & added a pint of Lucas ZDDP treatment for run-in. Recommended for flat tappets.
Did I make a mistake? Should I be doing the initial run-in & retorque [i:2f1176d38e]before[/i:2f1176d38e] adding the stuff?

Although the extra protection is a good thing the valve
spring pressure is so low on these old low revving
tractor engines that I doubt there would be any issue
with the cam or lifters. High revving auto performance
engines with high cam lifts and high spring pressures
are more inclined to need the special lubricants for
break in.
