Zuchinni problem

No, the problem isn't losing friends because I keep leaving bushels of zukes on their porches, its quite the opposite. Lots of blossoms, little zukes start, but when they get 2 or 3 inches long they get yellow on the blossom end, and fall off. Any suggestions?

You are experiencing "Blossom end rot" Soil has a deficiency in calcium, or other minerals are preventing the plant from absorbing calcium.

I agree with Adirondack. Too dry or too wet in the soil and it is causing calcium to be tied up in your soil and not available for the plants. A good foliar feeding would help with a fertilizer that has trace minerals. I have found fish emulsion fertilizer to work well. Also 1/3 milk to 2/3 water. If you are irrigating, cut back. If it is real dry, water on a consistent schedule.

For next year add some dolomitic or pelletized lime and that should help bring up your calcium too.

You can buy a bag of calcium sulfate, gypsum granules, at your hardware sore for $10 or so. Does not change the pH. Adds calcium. Good stuff. Just add it everywhere. IMHO.

Neptune's Harvest fish/kelp blend is great as an emergency foliar feeder,mix it with water and spray or soak with a watering can

The female zucchini blossom has to be pollinated, otherwise it won't mature to adult size.
