Case 530 won't stay in reverse

We have a Case 530 that is fine in forward
but won't stay in reverse. Any ideas?
Bertha is a 1962ish 530 with model 31
loader and hoe attachments. Any help would
be appreciated. Dad has had her since the
late 70's and my turn is coming.

I had that on a forward gear on vac. Had to replace that gear in the tranny because it was rounded off, I suspect from pulling it into gear before the transmission had stopped, aka grinding it in. gobble

Possibilities?, especially on loader tractors w/o shuttle.

Ours has the synchro shuttle gear. When we have the cover off there doesn't seem to be any rounded edges or ground teeth. Never had the gears out but is it poss that the l/h range sel is in the right groove but not the f/r?

Are you telling us the transmission jumps out of reverse, or the shuttle shifter jumps out of reverse? 2 very different issues.
