Going crazy for organic

Our country/world is so polluted that I don't see how anything can possibly be "organic " anymore. But people buy into it and good for them. Everyone can make their own decisions.

Easy day testing for containments.

Getting an Organic Cert, not so easy I am told by our friends that have them.

We have all know people who farm with horses, eat healthy, excersize and die young on the other end is people who smoke and drink and eat everyday like it is thanksgiving and have tractors that blow black smoke and outlive everyone else. How is that for two extremes ??

Yeah cause everyone is shady like that

And they say the invest was worth it to get into that marketplace, oh and they are legit

Its more labor intensive, it sounds like many are afraid of that..

Where there is bigger money to be made, there are people that will get in on it like that.

Sounds like a lot of opinions formed from ingroance, a very normal thing on forums.

And the cynicism meter is reading pretty high

farming is already having labor problems at least in are area I know one guy who farms 2000 acres all by himself up until last year we only had one truck driver in the fall

It seems more and more people keep buying organic foods, and they are willing to pay sky high prices. Just last week while on vacation, I saw my aunt and uncle buying absolutely everything organic, even sunscreen for my young cousin.

To me, it seems ridiculous that people pay so much more money for an organic apple that is soft. Things like organic milk, organic honey, organic eggs, are these things even that much healthier for you?

From your perspective, perhaps as a farmer growing fruits or vegetables, what do you think about organic produce? Obviously eating healthy is good, but it seems like a lot of this is just a marketing scheme.

I do not mean to ruffle any feathers, I am actually just curious about what actual farmers think about everyone buying everything organic.

A lot of posters seem to be applying their own personal definition of Organic here, while the only one that matters is the one that a farmer needs to follow in order to be CERTIFIED.
