Going crazy for organic

Organic products avoid synthetic pesticides and fertilizers, reducing chemical exposure. They often have higher nutrients and are non-GMO. Organic farming helps the environment by improving soil and water quality. It also supports animal welfare and sustainable farming, benefiting both people and the planet.
The first line of your post has some truth to it, but the rest is propaganda and mostly untrue. Organic food is mostly less nutritious than other food due to lower fertility in the soil. And sustainable agriculture is an unattainable myth on a large scale.

This is for everybody who feels compelled to respond to this 5 year old thread.

I do worry about all of the pesticides, herbicides and other chemicals we're consuming in large amounts. I know a lot of people that eat deer they kill and say it's healthy. Then I see them grazing on soybeans that are heavily sprayed. I think that is why we don't have any I mean any quail in my area anymore. I will use fertilizer on my garden and will use Sven Dust on it for bugs but my people as far back as I can remember did that and lived a long and healthy life. Of course they raised there own meat to but I just can't bring myself to do that. Thinking about getting me some chickens though. And buying local grown and slaughtered meat if I can.

I think i will add a little to this dated post.
1. There are only 13 gmo crops that are allowed to be grown in the U.S.
2. Source, Most of your commercial chemicals have a higher (better) LD50 than caffine the sources if for herbacides but a quick google can find other chem.
3. You should be more concerned with the meat (beef in particular) that you buy in stores than you should be with plants. A large part of beef sold on the U.S. is brought here by boat from argentina and brazil and then processed on U.S soil for the sticker, this is also why no meat sold here has a sticker that says "raised and processed in the U.S.A" .
I am not here to die on a hill for production ag i fully support it and am trying to start farming myself but like all industies it has is problems. If you want to get the best food for you and your family buy local no matter who grew it it is best for you and your local economy

Sooo, that's a myth that sustainable ag worked for thousands of years, before the introduction of chemicals ? Just curious. Humans would have starved out, long ago.

That wasn't sustainable, which is why fertilizers were invented. If it was sustainable fertilizer would have never been needed.

We buy and eat organic fruit and veggies when possible. Hopefully they do contain less chemicals than regular fruit and veggies. We ain't fanatics about it ,but if it's offered and looks good we buy it. Some grocery stores "organic" looks like crap! But a couple places have a great selection 😀......we do spend a good deal of time reading ingredient labels on everything. Couple examples ice cream, butter milk and Greek yogurt, you can buy these with minimal ingredients or with 10-12 added ingredients you can't even pronounce..... We do our best to eat healthy. Bread 🍞 is another great example,I don't think store bought, white bread should even be call bread🤬.

I am happy that people are trying to eat healthier but with out gmo and non organic food there would be millions more people starving if people want to buy it that’s fine but I don’t feel it makes a difference but if people think it is better for the planet they are wrong way more passes over the field destroying the soil structure and soil microbes are herbicides or insecticides the best for the ground no but non gmo and non organic is making food a lot cheaper that what it would be if all we had was organic and non gmo and also with animals if one of my cows or pigs is sick I’m going to give it medicine I’m not going to sit there and watch it suffer that’s wrong that’s my belief on it

The entire "Organic" is an industry marketing scam.

NOTHING we eat is truly organic and 100% free of "man enhanced manipulation", ranging from selective breeding to chemicals to genetically modified organisms (GMO).

And there is no organization, (government or private) that can certify that all of anything at anytime is pure, be it organic or non-organic.

Agreed 100%
