Hydraulic fluid recommendations

For a Massey Ferguson 175. What kinda hydraulic fluid would you recommend
Check your Operator's Manual. I am going to guess it recommends M-1129A. which became Permatran III, the AGCO 821XL, etc. Basically, one of Universal Tractor Transmission Hydraulic Fluids.

As rick posted if it has multi-power it needs it. If it doesn't it can use the lower grade oil with no ill effects. The determining factor is clutch packs.

I don’t have a manual, also it’s not multi power. I did some research and found it needs 303 but they don’t make that anymore so I don’t know what replaced 303

I don't know where you got that info. 303 was a John Deere product, never a direct recommendation of MF. It is long obsolete, Hy Gard is the replacement. Any 303 you find being sold currently should be avoided as it is often "trash" oil. Hy Gard falls in the same group as the ones I gave you info on in my earlier post. Look for a Universal Transmission Hydraulic Fluid listing the specs on the container I gave you before, or the John Deere J20C spec. The info in my earlier post is based on the 135 Operator's manual and several other MF manuals for similar tractors I have, which fall in line with your 175.

You should get an Operator's Manual for your 175.

I bought aftermarket hydraulic oil for my Jubilee. Worked fine until winter.
I went to New Holland dealer and bought the good stuff. CHN 134
My terramite has a big warning sticker on it. Do not use Hydraulic oil
Use motor oil 10w30 or 10w40.
Read your owner's manual or find the dealer that took over Massey Ferguson.
You may ask the boys on the Massey forum.

A clip from a MF 175 Operator's Manual. See my posts # 4 and # 7.
