Which 50 hp Tractor

Which "economy" 50 hp tractor is the best bang for the buck. It is time to consider replacing our 470 Long Landtrac compact. Everything still works but 1st and 2nd gear and finding someone to repair it is prohibitive.

Not sure where in western ny you are. I’m in Erie county I. South Wales. There are a whole bunch of dealers within 30-40 minutes from here. Deere, Kubota, Massey, Mahindra, Kioti, Ford. Don’t know what you mean by economy. Kioti and Mahindra will be probably the cheapest. I’ve been doing some research recently and they seem to have good ratings just behind Kubota. Like I said I’m not sure of your exact location but there is both a Kioti and Mahindra dealer near Arcade.

I have a NH TT60A which I bought very low houred and inexpensive. I liked it enough I looked for another, until I found a TN55 in Virginia, and bought it. These are very basic Fiats. A key factor for me is having local parts support, for which I have choices.

I made the switch from Ford/MF to Kubota about 10 years ago and never looked back.

Be advised that any new 50 HP tractor will have federally mandated emissions equipment.

We are near Olean. 30 miles south of Arcade. There is a Kubota dealer near us, but Kubota and JD will probably be out of my price range. I do want a hydraulic reverser. Will look at Mahindra, they are a heavier tractor.

In 2021 I bought a John Deere 5045E new for around $18,000. It's 2wd (which I prefer for quicker turning and less maintenance), weighs a little over 5,000# with Cat. II three point rated to lift a little over 3,000#.

This might be outdated information, as I'm not in the market, but I've heard of issues with parts availability for Mahindra.

I will guess that a hydraulic reverser would considerably increase tractor cost. One of mine has a mechanical reverser, and the other has none.

Ford 961 Tractor - $4,000 (Vincennes)

This is a nice tractor for the age. Very good sheet metal, good tires. It has 4 cylinder gas engine, 5 speed transmission, 3-point hitch. Starts right up, runs good, all 5 gears work. Tractor is rare as it has a tricycle front end. Can be used for parades, field work, or make a good collector tractor. call eight12-eight90-301eight

My opinion, Deere 5050e. Numerous dealers running deals as is Deere.

Nothing rare about a nf on a Ford 900 series. If I was looking for a 50hp tractor. A vintage Ford would my choice.

LOOK very close IF YOU actually compare tractor to tractor feature to feature the Kioti or Mahindra ae probably not going to be that much cheaper, buy you a KUBOTA their is a reason they are the number one selling utility tractor. Things like arm rest on the seats, lift out lift links , easy to make a cheap tractor not easy to make a good tractor cheap. Probably the last one you are going to buy do it right, you will thank me years from now

Buying new? Kubota, hydraulic shuttle.

M5660SU would be that size.
M6060 a little bigger.

Used is a matter of budget and availability.

574 or one of the later models would have the things you ask for in an older tractor. Or move up to one of the 66 series but would be a bigger tractor.

I didn't think they were 50 PTO hp. I have an early 4000 wide front. I wish it was a narrow. They sure turn shorter. Take less room to store.
My brother had a Ford 900 series with SOS. I would never recommend any Ford with SOS.
They are a good little tractor. I wish I had a 900 series over my Jubilee. wide front end.
If you on a budget, I would recommend a gasser because they are easy to fix.
I wanted a tractor with a cab, AC. That limited my choices to Kubota. I only have 140 hours on it after 5 years. So I will agree with Jerry,
This is the last new tractor I'll own.

Don't immediately dismiss either brand. Deere and Kubota often have very attractive financing deals, and their pricing is surprisingly competitive.

if yer used to the bells and whistles of the landtrac ...id wager get something with just enough tech as that--
