3000 gage console replacement

I bought a 3000 3 cylinder gas with a one wire Delco alternator. This site sells a replacement dash with a mention of compatability with the replacement alternator. The original was a cable drive tach. Has anyone done this work around? Did you have any problems? I really don't need the tach. but I hate looking at gages that don't work so I will try to get the tach to work

Do a voltage check at the gauges; you may have a blown fuse, bum voltage stabilizer, or a bad connection.

Alternators are available with a tach drive. I have one on a Ferguson. Looks like our host here offers such - https://www.yesterdaystractors.com/Ford-3000_12-Volt-Conversion-Kit_6X10300ALTH.html

This is the panel, a lot cheaper than the alternator, plus the cable is missing. It looks like this one doesn't use a cable.

They all use a cable that connects to the back side, that one is a replacement unit for generator tach dive and Delco conversions with rear tach drive
If the installed Delco alternator does not have tach drive provision you can convert the engine driven tach if your 3000 is a late enough model
Early 65/68 engines can not be converted the engine driven tach

Those replacement dashes with the grey white silver just look so hideous to me.

Does anyone make a black background rich looking dash like the originals?

I believe NH quite selling originals, I bought some of the last round and they were defective, wasted $500 on that.

Just can’t bring myself to put those cheap looking ones in.

Thanks, I think I'll will just build a new panel and put in some analog gages. This is going to be a loader equiped chore tractor so I am not going to go too far to make it pretty. Temp, volts, and oil pressue, We have a 2000 that looks new, but no power steering makes it hateful to use with the loader. We got the 3000 cheap. It runs great but the only electrical thing that works is a jury rig ignition and starter switch. I am going to fix it up before the loader swap

Neither of those 3 cylinder models, the 2000 or the 3000, is in any way a decent loader tractor, even with power steering. You will be wearing out the front wheel bearings and spindles on a regular basis. The power steering just makes it easier to wear things out. The manual steering models at least let you know how much wear you're putting on them.

You are right. The steering is an embarasment to Ford. We have a 574 Internationsl with a loader for most big jobs. The Ford is mostly a self propelled wheelbarrow. Mostly just an excuse to own more tractors. A smart man would sell them all and buy a Kubota. Not me.
