1948 John Deere A generator/regulator

Hi Guys, still working the restoration of my A. With the generator polarized and the tractor running mid throttle, the new ammeter shows ten amps but my meter connected to the battery is showing 12.8 volts. {12.4 when not running). That seems a little high on the amp reading and a little low on the battery voltage. Should I be concerned? I want to get it right
Thank you!

Not sure if this answers your question but there are three terminals on the regulator. One has wire to the ammeter, another to the field terminal on the gen,. and another to the armature terminal on the gen.
OK, two-coil. Make sure the contacts are clean and the smaller contact is not stuck. If stuck shut it will give full charge a all times.

Got it fixed ? What was it ?
Thanks for checking back! No, I'm still fighting but I am hopeful. It finally quit showing any amps at all after had searched out all of the wiring looking for shorts. One of the checks I made showed that the voltage regulator was toast, so I now have one on order, it looked really old and corroded. Another check showed me that the generator is functioning so when the new VR comes I'll carefully install it and give you the report!
Grateful.

Don’t know if this video will help ,

Does your generator have two brushes or three brushes. If it has three, the third brush is adjustable. I do not remember which way you move it to decrease charge rate but I had the same indication on my 1950 A. You just have to adjust it so it does not show discharge with the lights on.

The lights are there but not connected. Just haven't got there yet! Thank you for your help.

Closer to the main brush increases the output. It actually borrows from the main to feed more to the fields.
