On the variable speed drive there was a big bolt on the rear side (to the rear of combine) that you could thread in or out to take up or add slack to the variable speed pulley, which the cylinder adjusted the front side of it.

I had my grandfather put the combine in gear and hold the brake for a few seconds. The belts and pulley are all spinning. Combine not moving. Engine. Not working. I’m thinking that leaves just the clutch insides the transmission. The clutch pedal in cab has free play. So probably just a burt glazed over clutch? Or was there a common problem with these?
