prime mover L 1300

Need a bit more info...Prime Mover can be"anything" from moving the space shuttle to shifting furniture about.Just what kinda beast is your L1300?
:)

all i know is it is a skid steer.a friend om mine just got it and it needs work.it is 4 wheel drive and diesel powerd. thanks for reply.do you know any place their is more numbers that will help narrow it down.

It looks like your Prime Mover L1300 "may" have been a product of "Lull" Corporation which went bankrupt in about 1970.Assets were sold to Omniquip, then to Texron and later to JLG.Parts such as filters, batteries, belts are listed from various suppliers, but not much inrmation on the machine itself was found, although Lull Boom lifters, and other equiptment such as rough terrain forklifts are not uncommon sight at construction sites,so name may still be"alive".Best bet might be to contact a Hvy equipment repair place to see if the have a source for manuals/info. Best of Luck!

thanks for the information ill keep looking.the machine wont move. was hoping to find some manuals to help figure it out.again thanks.

I’ve got a Prime Mover L1300 and figured I’d share what I’ve been able to confirm in case it helps another owner. Manuals/info seem pretty scarce, so hopefully this saves someone a little digging.

Prime Mover L1300 – info I’ve confirmed

Basic specs

  • Model: Prime Mover L1300
  • Rated lift: ~1300 lbs
  • Operating weight: around 4800 lbs
  • Tires: 10 x 16.5
  • Wheels: 8 lug

Engine

Mine has: (I think it's not original)
  • Isuzu 3AB1PW-09
  • 3-cylinder diesel
  • mechanical injection pump

The engine tag was a little hard to spot, but it was there on the top of the valve cover.

Glow plugs

On mine:
  • 10.5v
  • M10 thread
  • 12 mm hex
  • approx 15 mm thread reach
  • approx 90 mm overall length
  • M4 terminal

Original plugs were marked JKC.

A compatible replacement appears to be:

Filters / fluids

Engine oil used

  • Shell Rotella T6 15W-40

Oil filter: NAPA Gold 1068

Air filter: NAPA Gold 2489

Electrical / controls

My machine’s original dash had been removed before I got it, but the factory harness was still present. I'd love some photos of one so I can try and recreate it

3 pedal/ 2 joystick setup

Fuel system

Mine currently uses:
  • 12v electric primer pump to bypass the main

Hydraulics

Hydraulic reservoir appears to run low in the chassis. I just used generic brand from the farm store (waiting to find new leaks)

Axle / chain area

I did find an outer axle dust/wiper seal marked:
  • Forsheda V-ring V-85

That’s what I’ve been able to verify so far.

If anybody else has:
  • manuals
  • parts diagrams
  • filter cross references
  • chain case info
  • photos

…I’d definitely love to compare notes.

And if anyone has questions on what I’ve found on mine so far, feel free to ask,
The photos are from where I picked her up, it's come a long way from sitting and rotting to being a (semi)functional piece of equipment on my property.
Also including the number plates for the injector, primer and air filter housing.

Update: Those are in fact the correct glow plugs.
"Compatible with 3Cyl Isuzu : 3KA, 3KB1, 3KC1, 3AA1, 3AB1, 3AD1 3 10.5 12 9-82511978-0 PI42 3AE1, 3AF1, 3AG1"

I had a problem where the machine would not start without a little snort of ether. It would spin and spin throwing white smoke. Not a diesel mechanic just a guy trying to restore a beat up old skid steer but I read that white smoke means poor fuel combustion. I also noted that it starts great when it's warmed up.

Then I discovered the glow plugs were not even wired up, then learned they were bad. For the first time in almost a year of owning this little beast I can sit in it and start it without ether.
