    Overcurrent burning coils

    It's normal for the charging system to go high right after start up. If you are melting wires at 20A I would check the size of the wire. 30A requires a Number 10 wire. 20A a number 12 wire. Check the size of the wire from the solenoid to the ammeter.

    Oil pump shaft

    Yes I agree - it's not the cost so much as availability. I have only found complete distributors so far. What is in a new distributor that keeps the hex shaft in place? I am hopeful that someone else might have come across the same problem and come up with an answer I haven't thought of.

    Hi folks - I have just rebuilt the engine and while putting the rocker cover back on I noticed that one of the cover studs is stripped. Question - are the studs pressed in or threaded? I spent a lot of time on that rocker shaft it's a mess - don't know how I missed the studs.[/list]
