JD 60 Pistons in Unstyled A

The crank stroke for the model a is 6.5 until 1944 when it jumped to 6.75, Unless your referencing the model oa which had a stroke of 6.75 already in 1936. Install a inexpensive 6.75 crank with model 60 high altitude, m&w high compession ,or propane pistons. What ever you want to call them just...

    spark plugs

Try champion d89d igniter plugs. They fire much better then any standard type plug and don't foul nearly as easily. Very pricey but are like night and day difference. Usually not a stock Item but any good parts store can special order. Check clearance as they will protrude into the combustion...

JD A stroke / piston costs

Used pistons from a model 70 gasser measure 5.75 and are a inexpensive option. Just bush the wrist pin and remove the wiper ring. Might have to cut the skirt for clearance. motor oil

Have heavy duty straight 50 weight motor oil that meets diesel specs. I am thinking about running it in our 8440 during the summer only. The tractor has always had 15w40 run in it and has 7000 hours on the original engine. Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated.
