    8N Won't Start

Did you let the gas flow out of the carb drain? Did you let it run enough to be sure the needle and seat are not stuck? If you have good hot blue spark at each plug, then it's most likely not getting fuel to the cylinders or it's flooded itself and your spark plugs need to be cleaned and dried...

    Mobile Tire Service (Disappointing)

Back in the late 80's and early 90's I worked for a tire company and never turned down a job like that !! With a crane truck and the proper tools it should be an easy swap. A lot of younger folks these days just don't want to put in the effort it takes to do a job, they want everything clean and...

    Ring Gear

I've heard that the new replacements are very tight to get on. I haven't tried to do a new N ring gear myself but I've heard they have to heated a lot. You make need to heat it up until it just starts to turn dull red. It should expand enough then to drop on. I hope this helps and I'm sure the...

    pto shaft

There shouldn't be any wobble. It can cause a lot of bad vibration if you use the PTO a lot and you'd risk taking out the bearing or cause other damage. The shaft is probably bent or something is worn. A new shaft with bearing and seal and housing will run you around a hundred bucks. I'd replace...

    TE-A20

Thank you John and everyone else. The tractor is running really well at the moment but I don't want to end up broke down with a broken rotor button. Joe

That's good advice John. I need to change the oils on my 54 TE-A20 as well. I will keep that info in mind.

    TE-A20

I'm wondering if anyone may have a supplier for a rotor button. I can't purchase from YT because they won't sell to Canada. I have a 1954 Te-A20 with the Standard 85mm engine. It appears to be the early style Lucas Distributor. I managed to find the proper points, condenser, spark plugs, plug...

    wireing

That's interesting about the two sites, I wasn't aware of that. I don't know about official or not, info is info to me as long as it helps. I checked the diagrams for the wiring and they're identical on both sites for the one with ammeter. I couldn't open the link for the one with red light on...

    Got ground ripped (pics)

The point to subsoiling is pretty simple. If you been plowing say to a depth of twelve inches in the same spot for years, then all the fine silt and sediments tend to make a layer of hard pan at that depth. When you subsoil the ground it breaks up the hardpan and allows for better drainage and...

    to-20 oil in radiator

The engine oil pressure is much higher than the pressure of the cooling system. So if the head gasket lets go the way you state, then oil will push into the cooling system and displace the water.

Just got word back from Machine Shop on my 8N motor...

I'm a little confused too ! lol, but that's another story. All of the N series engines originally had sleeves. The early ones had thin 0.040" sleeves and the later ones had 0.090" sleeves. I sure hope the machine shop is putting in new sleeves with new pistons and doesn't try to rebore your...

    TE20 COIL PEOBLEMS

If you have power to the coil and no fire from it, check your points. You mentioned you had to change the condenser so I suspect your points are either burnedc up or dirty and not making a good contact. Post back and let us know.

    Trans noise

That sounds for sure like an input shaft to mainshaft bearing to me. Better plan on pulling the cover and doing an inspection.
