    My Dad bought a 234/husking bed new in 1970. this one had the live tips in the stalk rolls. he mounted it on a 706 with the IH ice cream box cab. Later he bought the all purpose sheller with the roller mill. piece of cake to mount/dismount for repair or service of tractor.

    706/806 development ??

    I was told by an IH parts man the D361 used in the 806 was from Hoegh, the construction side of IH. The 361 was used a lot by them as the turbocharged version DT361. This parts man seemed to know a lot about the back round of the 06 series.

    two years ago my brother upgraded from a 2388 with a 30 foot 1020 to a 5088. he was told by several IH users to pass on the 2020 and go for a 3020 or a draper. he bought the 30 foot draper. many said the 1020 was a better head than the 2020. good luck

    Can you tell much difference in performance of the 1.5T over the 2.0t you had? We have a 2.0T and it is a real rocket, more than necessary.

    Will IH 843 head fit CIH 1666 combine?

    Yes the 843 head will hookup to the feeder house on the 1666. You need to be sure you have the correct tires and no axle extensions on the 1666 so it will be narrow enough not to knock down the standing rows next to the tires.

    If you have the steel sleeve already in place you maybe able to replace the pivot bearing only and reuse your steel sleeve if it isn't worn. Hope this helps.

I did my 3588 and helped do 7 other 2+2's a year or so after mine. to split remove the fiberglass shroud in front of the windshield. remove the curtains at the hinge point. remove the small drive shafts in the hinge area. these are the shaft from the engine and the shaft to the front axle...
