Thank you so much! I had done a good bit of searching, and had just about settled on a substitutes generic spring.

    WD9 cross shaft return spring - 52 176 DC

Got my magneto insalled and coarsely timed, and the big spring that hooks on behind the carb broke when I bumped it. Since it controls pretty much everything, I didn't try starting the tractor til I can hunt one down. I lookd through the parts book and service manual and can find no specs...

Looking for gas-start magneto for WD-9

Yeah, was looking at service manual, and they don't show the rotor except in a "keeper" outside the unit. I looked at the larts book and it is just the shaft, so i guess the magnets are there. The impulse doesn't appear to be catching either. I've replace points and condense before, but...

Looking for gas-start magneto for WD-9

Got my WD-9 in from ND, and I've been cleaning up the fuel system. Finally got clean gas to the carb, and no spark. Some PO had wire in an external coil. I wasn't getting fire, so I ordered a new coil, points, condense, rotor, and cap. Welll, when I opened her up ther was no coil in the...

    8n Gear

If it was my tractor I would probably put off opening it up til I had to take it down til I had timebto take it apart and relly check it out. If you can see the gear, maybe look around for a goo one to replace it. I about to have to rebuild my late FIL's 3N, and it needs a full set of...

    Gas start diesel run engines

When you say "cold weld", what do you mean? Is this taking a punch and peening the cast iron together in kindnof a knitting operation, or some other orocess?

You guys that haul regular, what?s your thoughts on thiis?

Have a similar rig from kearny. You only have about 9500 # of payload. I have hauled a 2n and a JD 60 at the same time and had a balance load, and pulled with a 2015 6.7 F250 with no probkems. Kept it to 60, and had nonissues.

    Ford 6.7 diesel

Very early 6.7s had a problem with valve stems sticking from overheating when they went into regen mode. Unless this one has been fixed, that is likely the problem. Can get complete engine failure if it sticks and the piston contacts it.

2 Cylinder JD PTO - Worthless??????

I have used my 420 to mow with a 3pt RM59 woods finish mower a good bit. The PTO is offset a bit to the left, but there is almost always as much or more vertical offset than there is horizontal offset, so I never worried. The woods is belt drive, and has a VERY heavy drive line. Never an...

Were the gas start diesels harder to crank?

And another note on timing: As far as I know, ALL of the gas start diesels were magneto ignition. I don't know if they were ever offered with battery ignition. I will not even attempt to crank start a battery ignition, or a magneto I have not verified the timing on. I've seen too many vacuum...

    jd 420 lp

ALWAYS, turn the gas off and let the motor die, THEN turn off the ignition. If you turn the key off first, you still have HOT water in the vaporizer/regulator with the liquid fuel. This will build up high pressure, and badly abuse the gaskets in the vaporizer. By the book, you start it on...
