    Rattle snakes

They say "humans are in capable of self levitation or self powered flight." HHUUUMMM. I can't count how many times I have self levitated or actually flew cause of snakes, either nearly stepping on them, being chased(watermocksin) or some other reason but I do remember one time I jumped straight...

    Coyotes and calves

They are a major problem. One or 2 will distract the momma cow and the rest will sneak in from behind and kill the calf. I keep an eye and ear out for them during calving season and have my old bolt action 30-06 on stand by to take care of them. only used it once but they will try. Alex

    wildfires in Tx

We've been getting small fires down here alot. most of the true open land is either under gov. subsidies or owned by a developer and is unmaintained, except for a few scrawny cows. Its a disaster waiting to happen. Now Have any of you looked at the early pictures of Texas? You notice the absence...

    Oliver 1900 - 4/53 Detroit Dsl

From what you say your governor sounds it needs to be adjusted: low-speed spring gap improperly adjusted. the gap clearance between the low-speed spring cap and the high speed spring plunger should be.0015" with the engine running between 800 and 1000 rpms. If that doesn"t do the trick then go...

    1950 Cockshutt

SAE 30. 500 rpm or at least thats what my detroit manual says. I have 1900 oliver with a 4-53 and I get filters I get at napa. Keep an eye on the blower. If she starts blowin blue, its time to change the seals on the blower. Don't let it sit around to long either. Those detroits love to work and...

    OT: A gun in school!

It getting more common. I"m a senior at Katy H.S. and last year a freshmen got busted with a fully loaded 9mm and this year 2 kids got busted, a 9mm and a .45. My guess is the rap/gang/gangster influence is, in a way, making them bring guns to school, trying to be cool. they have talked about...

    Worst farm chores!

Mixing a minewer pile in the middle of a southeast Texas summer with the wind in your face on a tractor that has no cab, removing retained placentas in the middle of winter is another one and removing dead cows and stillborn calves. Combine both and you get to taste flavors you missed the first...

Uh oh....and you thought gas prices were bad last week...

We would if we were aloud to. I live, breath and sleep oil industry(what my family's main income is but its not all good right now, own only 3 wells) and here's why we can't drill our own oil; something to the tune of 85%-95% of our domestic oil is locked up in no drill zones( off the cost of...

    Rice Specials

You in Texas?Where and when did you find that? Correct, but I"ve head stories bout a old MM dealer/parts yard that was on or near what is now a high school(cinco Ranch high school) near Katy,TX and was wondering if that was one of the survivors or did you get from Wharton or some where around there?

Hay spear - 3 prong or 2 prong?

The 3 prong is the best for moving hay. The two smaller prongs are to keep the bale from spinning. the 2 prong are cross per-pus both pallet and hay but will tear the heck out of a bale. Another option is to get the spear its self and build a bucket mount(and make sure you can bolt or pin the...
