Hit Miss engine turning over John Deere

GP ENGINE BLOCK
You can shoe horn a small bore manifold on to a big bore block but the passages aren't the same. You can make one run mixing and matching things but takes a little dinking around.- barnrope

Take the flywheel cover off and have a look. Make sure the flywheel is thight and it isn't shimmed up with beer cans in the splines or worse yet, welded to the crank shaft. If it already has a taper lock flywheel that is fine. The taper lock flywheel is a great update. If it has the original...- barnrope

A big bore block will fit. I think you could make the small bore head work, but I can't remember as its been a few years. Why not just replace it with the small bore block? The small bore parts are much easier to find and much cheaper. If you have a good big bore block you could sell it and...- barnrope

FIT,What is an "oil pressure coil protection circuit"? I agree, the weak spot is the coils. I don't know if I'll replace the original coils again or if I'll go with the automotive coil deal.- barnrope

Iv'e seen the 4 coil trick. If its done nicely they can all fit under the hood. Maybe I'll try that if nothing else. I don't mind farmerizations as long as they are nicel done! Surely someone has figured out a way to put the new style electronic solid state ignition on these things which...- barnrope
