Need BTDC on Ford 5900 Minimec ro replace injector pump.

Of course it needs to be rebuilt - sounds like the governor thrust bearing went out. I wouldn't run it any further until it is repaired.

    Steering issues on a 6600

Something inside your column is binding up. The control valve operates using a torsion bar, and apparently is free to turn in one direction but binds up in the other. I'd suggest going back in and making sure everything moves freely.

    Ford 3 cylinder diesel timing

Timing gears cannot come out of time as long as the timing cover stays on. Don't bother pulling the cover off and checking the timing marks because they will be off. This engine uses a "hunting gearset", meaning the marks only line up about once every 50 revolutions or so. Trust me, it does not...

    Ford 3 cylinder identification

    D5NN would be 1975, not 1965.

1972 ford 5000 not getting fuel, and steering issue

Remove line at fuel filter coming from the tank. If you have a slow trickle, the screen in your tank is plugged.

    Ford 7000 3pt Lift Cover

Well, I guess that wasn't very helpful, as the guy never reported back. See attached image. If you lift a heavy load, shut the engine off, and pull out the ASC valve, everything shown in green is isolated. If it still leaks down quickly, the problem is most likely a leaking piston seal or...

    Ford 7000 3pt Lift Cover

Pulling out the ASC valve splits the circuit into two sections and helps isolate where the leak is. The details should be in the archived post of mine that you said you found. Can you dig it back up and attach the link?

The worst airfilter I have ever seen

Yep. Most late-model trucks and machines are that way - don't touch the filter unless the dash light tells you to. This is because today's pre-cleaner systems are so effective.

The worst airfilter I have ever seen

Hate to burst your bubble, but I've seen far worse than that. More than once I've drilled out the spot welds on those filters, removed the wire mesh and unrolled it out on the wash rack to clean them.

    Ford 2600 Trainer

You're right Keith, that was and still is my point of view with regards to student training aids. As a diesel mechanics instructor for over 25 years now, I've seen students that could break an anvil with a rubber hammer! You never know what you're going to get with regards to former training...

    Ford 7000 3pt Lift Cover

I'm glad that you found my archived post. Since the 5000 and 7000 covers are pretty much the same, it will save me from having to type the same process again. Let me know if it doesn't make any sense, and reply back with a link to said post so I can review it again. The ASC valve spool should...

    Ford 7000 3pt Lift Cover

Let's troubleshoot this rather than shooting from the hip. Raise the arms, shut off the engine, and pull out the ASC valve, which is the big black knob on the RH front of the lift cover. Post back with the results.

    Ford 7000 3pt Lift Cover

Yours and his understanding of "significant push" are likely different. There needs to be some resistance to movement on that spool, but not a lot.

    Ford 7000 3pt Lift Cover

Just ahead of the oil filter is a large cap nut. Remove this nut and then unscrew threaded sleeve with an allen wrench. Also, don't forget the hold down bolt directly underneath the RH lift arm - it's easy to miss. Once you start lifting the cover up a few inches, disconnect the load monitor...
