JD 1008 Rotary Cutter Slip Clutch

I'm pretty satisfied I now understand what I need and how to proceed. I thank you very much, Sir. If you're ever in the Tupelo MS area, let me know and lunch is on me!

JD 1008 Rotary Cutter Slip Clutch

I just did that and it seems MY slip clutch has too many of ... something. The diagram indicates between adjusting nut (a) and clutch plate holder (f) there are seven (7) items - Those being spring (1) and six (6) drive plates. I THINK I have 6 worn out slip clutch plates. Maybe the diagram...

JD 1008 Rotary Cutter Slip Clutch

TX Jim, I sure thank you for spending time on this. It gives me abit more confidence. I got the assembly off and have separated the parts to try to determine which ones are plates vs slip clutch disc and which parts need replaced. Don't let me impose, but here's a pic of disassembly - PTO...

JD 1008 Rotary Cutter Slip Clutch

I'll likely get on this later this week, got couple other "rat killing" chores in line first. Thanks again.

JD 1008 Rotary Cutter Slip Clutch

Hey, thanks for your earlier reply. I had to get a grandkid to get me into the 1008 operating manual. I'm much less IT inclined than mechanical, and only mid range "shade tree" rated mechanically. And yes, the adjusting nut has bottomed out. From the diagram it appears if I back that nut...

JD 1008 Rotary Cutter Slip Clutch

Never done this before but seems clutch discs in this JD 1008 cutter slip clutch have to be replaced. How many and what is the process remove/replace?

4020 front end loader hydraulic question

I'm finally getting around to finishing this project and (I think) have one last question. I should've marked the relative positions of the 4 lines (2 lift and 2 curl lines) to the 4 connections on the valve box. Not sure but I think the lift lines were connected to the bottom two connections...

4020 front end loader hydraulic question

Thanks. Now all I need is to find a replacement filter housing and get busy!

That's exactly the kind of info I was hoping for!! Thanks.

4020 front end loader hydraulic question

Some years back I acquired this old 4020. One of the hydraulic lines for the front end lift/loader is connected to the hydraulic filter cover, which requires the line to run under the belly of the tractor ( don't know if it's a return line or not). Whichever it is, it seems to be a bad...

    1008 rotary mower

My 1008 JD rotary mower has sheared a shaft which drives the right side cutter. Once before I replaced a shaft which sheared where it entered the outer gear box. This time it sheared coming out of the main gear box. 1st problem is figuring out how to remove the shaft. Then comes the cost of...

JD Model RW Disc Harrow Axle Issue

I'm glad to see your reply. That was my first inclination. I'm older than this very old disc and I thought by doing that it would outlast me. Now, all I need to do is remove the inner bearing. The axle is surface is so pitted and rough it seems I'm going to have to beak or cut it off. Thanks,

JD Model RW Disc Harrow Axle Issue

I'm pretty sure I've correctly identified this as a RW model. I've started the process of replacing the wheel bearings. Now it APPEARS that sometime in ages past a bearing had disintegrated, gouging a pretty deep grove in the axle. It has roughed up the axle shaft such that I'm not sure I can...

    Solar Battery Maintainer

Fellas, thanks for the input. Drop down from roof mount would work I think.

    Solar Battery Maintainer

Thanks for your response. I'll need to put the panel outside but we don't have much problem with snow in Mississippi. Looks like it which will require pretty long connections, probably 30' or so. Will that be a problem?
