    I have a 1969 2020 diesel that has the 2 stage clutch. The first part of the clutch pedal stops tractor movement while the second part stops the pto, the second part pushes a bit harder than the first step.

    I just this this on my 640 JD rake and the thread was righthand. It was a bugger to get loose. I locked the bar disc with a bar so the gear box couldn"t turn and put a piece of square tubing over the driveshaft and had to literally jump on it to break it loose, then it unscrewed right off.     274 Massey 4wd-Main PTO shaft removal

    How do you get the PTO drive shaft out of the transmission to remove gears? I have the main input shaft removed, but cannot get the PTO shaft out. I have a gear (2nd from front of trans) with a tooth missing and back by the differential there is a bad thrust washer. I hope I can find parts also.

    I bought this 274 about 4 months ago. It has a loader on it. The transmission sounds noisy in 3rd gear when decelerating or going down hill holding back. It does this in the forward range as well as reverse range, but only in 3rd, posiibly a little in 4th. It sounds kind of like a chatter sound...

    I am in the process of rebuilding the engine on an 860. The problem is that the block looks as though it froze and pushed a good size piece out and someone welded it all back in, the weld piece is about a foot long piece by 2 inches wide. It is cracked next to the welded area the full length...

    Thanks for all the kind words. I am located in Greene, New York. I'm not much for parades, but this old girl was really good to me last haying season when my NH TN55 kept letting me down, this one baled me out in more ways than one. I figured I owed it that much, plus I always wanted one of these.

    It is a thrush muffler that I welded pipe to so I could get it around the sheet metal. I had one on a 640 that I did last year and really liked the sound of it.

    Just finished it this morning, rebuilt engine, new 2 stage clutch, new brakes, can"t wait to put it to work.
