    5900 starter help

Well I got it running. Hard wired the solenoid wire and bought a new battery. Might have been the battery all along even though the old one charged to 12.7v. In hind sight, I should have tested the battery first but I've never had a battery start just fine multiple times then not 30 minutes...

    5900 starter help

I bench checked the starter and everything works as it should. Double checked the wiring and that seems to as well. Ground is clean and looks good. The battery is staying at 12.7v. I'm missing something obvious... Due to the different solenoid connection, I've been using a jumper with...

    5900 starter help

I haven't checked the chassis ground, didn't even think of that... The NAPA starter did show a lot of applications. In fact we had to look up one for a 5610 then verify it fit the 5900 (and many others). I have a good parts guy there who goes the extra mile. When we opened the box and saw the...

    5900 starter help

I'm a little stumped and could benefit from another's perspective. I was using the tractor to move some equipment around. Turned it off and later that day went to put out hay and only got clicks when I turned the key. Not entirely unusual as the battery posts occasionally get corroded so I...

Issues after 425 cam gear replacement

Now that I think on it, since it sat for almost a year, I should tear down the carb and make sure the float valve isn't sticking...

Issues after 425 cam gear replacement

I just replaced my cam & gear without removing the engine and it went fine. Or so I thought... Upon assembly I had to keep turning the crank to mesh the teeth on all the gears (water pump, oil pump, ect). I used some EP grease to hold the tappets in and coat the new cam etc. One thing I messed...

    806 stuck in 4th

Ok, well Im feeling kinda dumb now... I couldnt get the cowl sheet metal all the way off the other night because of the TA lever and I was in the middle of the pasture and needed the hand grab attached so I could get up and down. So I assumed the shifter went into the center column and...

    806 stuck in 4th

Yes, I can shift from high to low no problem and the TA works as before. Just can't get out of 4th to go to 3-2-1. I still ought to make those other adjustments as I never knew they were a thing and it's not been done since dad bought it over two decades ago.

    806 stuck in 4th

Wow, that's a lot of info to digest guys! Thanks! Guess I'll start with the oil light, it's never come on and then spraying down everything with penetrating oil... I finished mowing just fine stuck in 4th so hopefully it is something as "easy" as adjustments.

    806 stuck in 4th

I thought my tractors were in my signature but no so this is on a IH 806 diesel.

    806 stuck in 4th

I was clipping pasture and after backing up I shifted from R2 to L4 and when I let out the clutch it was like I was in neutral. So I reshifted from reverse to low and also tried to verify I was in 4th but I could no longer shift out of 4th. It feels like I could shift out IF I tried real hard...

    IH 806 fueling issue

Found a rebuilt pump for $875. The unit on the tractor is a Stanadyne but the shop man said Bosch was OEM? Anybody have a link to instructions on how to remove? Looks simple but I assume it has to be timed? Many thanks,

    IH 806 fueling issue

That's what I was afraid of. Did you use instructions? I assume the pump has to be timed? I'll rebuild the drive assembly too. Many thanks,

    IH 806 fueling issue

This is a turbocharged D-361 engine. While clipping pasture the other day the engine would occasionally bump up about 200rpm and stay there for a few minutes before dropping back down. Last night it started doing the same but then would occasionally power down by about 400rpm or so, then...
