Approx value for used front mount PTO pump

I am looking to sell a used front mount PTO hydraulic pump including a sweepster enclosed hydraulic system, with 3 lever control valve, and in-line filter. The system was used as a broom by a local school and was mounted on a 1978 ford 3600. The broom is not included, but the system looks to...

Followup to my 3600 stalling out

Better late than never with what I found out on my 3600 stalling out. I didn't put enough gas in it to get it re-started on the hillside. Keith was right - in my case 2 gallons wasn't enough to get it started when I stalled on that hill. The hill in question is extremely steep. Several...

    3600 stalling out

I did only add about 2 gallons at the time with no luck, but as luck would have it my neighbor stopped by on his atv and we ended up towing the tractor back to the barn with my truck. We didn't try to start it again in the barn however as it was getting late. Before I do anything, I will see...

    3600 stalling out

Thanks for all the feedback. I found my repair manual last night and it also said that the petcock with the screen is removable, so I think I'll try removing that next weekend when I am up at my farm. I will need a catch basin for the gas however.

    3600 stalling out

I enjoy reading the posts on this board every day and am starting to gain a smidgen of knowledge about Ford tractors. I have a 1978 340 industrial (which I believe has the 3 cyl 3600 gas engine). This is my latest issue (now that the 3point hydraulic issues have all been sorted out). The...

Ford TW-5 Hydraulic Remotes and Levers Needed.

I don't know if this would work, but I have an old front mount "Sweepster" broom unit (less broom) which has a 3 handle valve mounted to the frame of the sweepster, along with a front mount ford pump which runs off of the engine's PTO. This setup came with my 1978 model 340 industrial tractor...

4000 3pt lift arm travel question

Not sure of rear tire sizes but the 3 point does touch the ground when fully lowered. I just had my neighbor/mechanic work on hydraulics this past weekend and he also confirmed that the "play" is normal. He fixed a "stuck" valve and also flushed and cleaned the inside of the inside of the...

4000 3pt lift arm travel question

When testing my 3pt without any implements attached, I noticed that when the lift arms are in the full up position (i,.e, lift arms won't go any higher) I can manually lift them further by hand approx 1-2 inches. It seems odd to me that there would be additional play (lift) at the end of the...

had a close one last night!

I had somewhat of a scare last night - although not tractor related. I went out to buy a 6 pak of Mobil 1 Sysnthetic 20w 50 VTwin oil for my Harley at the local auto parts shop and the price was $72.00 plus tax! Thats over $10.00/quart! I left without buying anything. It was my third stop -...

    hyd problem

Ultradog - what is the approx. cost to build a tester? Also, Recommended parts and sources etc.? My hydraulics are still on the "fritz" and if I can build a tester for a reasonable price, I think that would be a good starting point.
