    TO-30 ignition

The first thing I did was to check the points and dist. for water etc. But I didn't reset the points as the tractor had been running fine when I shut it down. As soon as we get a little warm air around here I will take them out to clean em, and reset them. Would the points keep the coil from...

I did clean the points, I don't know how to check the condenser.

    TO-30 ignition

While the starter is turning the points will be opening and closing rapidly. Should the voltage reading be changing as that happens. If I disconnect the lead that goes to the distributor and activate the starter should I be getting a spark out of the coil? I'm not sure that there is any current...

    TO-30 ignition

My TO-30 was running great as it has for a long time. After mowing in Aug. I parked it. When I wanted to mow again in Oct. it did not start. It is a 6 volt positive ground system. The starter turns as it should, I have 6 volts at the Neg. post on coil, and when turning the starter I have 6 volts...

    TE_20 starter

Thanks for your response. However I am looking for info about the brass stud that the wire is bolted onto the starter. It seems to be close to a metric 6x1.00, but is actualy a little bigger dia. than that.

    2404

Thanks for the replies, I have to wonder though, why the cold temps would cause the brakes to lock? I never have the problem when its not freezing. I'll have to see about going through the brakes.

    2404

Hey, I have a IH 2404. I am having a problem with the tractor now that it has gotten cold, I live in Michigan. When the temp. gets below freezing something in the right side of the rear end locks up. It almost seems to be the right brake, but I don't know why it would lock up due to cold temps...

    clutch will not disengage

Thanks for the info. I started the tractor while it was in gear and the clutch broke free right away. That was one of the things I wanted to try, but just thouhgt I would post this problem first and see what others had to say. I did find this topic in the archives. Thanks again, Tom.

    clutch will not disengage

I recently bought a TO-30 that was not running. I was told it had been setting for a few years. So after having the starter rebuilt and cleaning the carb, I lubed the cylinders and got the tractor to start. It will need a new manifold also. The problem I have is that when I tried to drive the...

    TO20 Starter switch question.- revisited.

Hey, thanks for getting back to me on this. I am talking about the two studs that the wires are atached to on the starter switch. The nuts on mine are very old and want to replace them.

    TO20 Starter switch question.- revisited.

Hey, I would like to find out what the thread size is on the studs that are on the starter switch? They seem to be an odd metric size, I have not been able to replace the ones on my te-20. Thanks, Tom

    Briggs carb 18 hp

I am having trouble geting this carb to work correctly. I've rebuilt and cleaned it. It has worked fine for awhile, and then it seems to start sucking fuel. With the air cleaner off and the tractor under load it will acually be spraying fuel out of the carb so much that I can feel it spraying on...
