8n intake/exhaust manifold burn out question

TOH, yea i totally understand this block is not "factory fresh". just curious why, assuming you had a fresh block from the factory, this condition would develop. seems it's not anything in particular, just a design that develops the issue. Probably did not re-torque the nuts on the...

8n intake/exhaust manifold burn out question

Sure, but why does a (assuming) perfectly normal engine generate an exhaust leak in the beginning. I realize my issues could be from an unsupported gasket, but there has to be something that changed from factory steady state conditions to cause a gasket to fail. IE too lean caused exhaust temp...

8n intake/exhaust manifold burn out question

When i initially rebuilt the engine, i noticed the exhaust manifold needed some help with making the gasket seal. but I now see this burning around the #4 and new burning around the #1. Something is wrong that is causing more cylinders to be burnt rather than just time.

8n intake/exhaust manifold burn out question

Bob, I know how to solve the problem in terms of new gasket, quiksteel, new manifold etc. I want to know what motor conditions cause this to happen. You are all trying to tell me how to fix something, and I want to know why it happens, not how to fix it. I want to cure the disease, not the...

8n intake/exhaust manifold burn out question

would love to try this, but i spent a ridiculous amount of money getting this thing running and tearing this down to the block is a deal breaker for me.

8n intake/exhaust manifold burn out question

When i rebuilt my 12v, side distro 8n 80 eng hours ago, I used some hi temp liquid steel putty to reform a flat surface for the manifold to really seal against the gasket. It seems it has burned out in not only the usual area to the "left" of the manifold but also at the front or "right" as...

    8n

8n, 12v, side distro it seems on my last plowing/discing session that the solenoid shorted and engaged the starter at some point. it started smoking when i shut the tractor down. got the starter off and inspected it and it had some white "calcification" looking char on the center post and...

    Clutch Replacement questions

may just need adjustment. there is a screw in the pedal that frequently wears down. since splitting the tractor is such a godawful endeavor ( ive split mine 3-4 times in the 1.5 years ive had it) spray some brake cleaner in thru the timing hole and see if that doesnt clean any goop off the...

    sleeve removal tool

I'm a welding engineer by trade, and using a stick welder to get them to warp makes me cringe haha. Glad to hear I didn't ruin anything. GL with your rebuild. Lesson learned: clean the block profusely after lapping the valve seats.....powerwash it outside several times or take it and have it...

    sleeve removal tool

I have an aluminum "puck" that I machined from some 6061 at work. I used a press and some smaller diameter aluminum cylinders to press the sleeves out. Seemed to work great. I then ran some diesel w/ rag and acetone w/ rag on the insides of the block walls. I then set the sleeves in the...

    Funny 8n Story

So, I have been on my 8n a bit this winter moving firewood, cleaning up the driveway etc. It really hit me how much when I tried to shift into reverse in my daily driver, and tried to put it where the reverse gear is on the tractor and not on the car. Felt kinda silly grinding gears at 0600...

    Finally...

I bought this in February last year and finally got it mounted on the 8n this weekend. Hydraulic lines all need replaced and I need to fab up how to mount the pump, but this big rock has been moved. Woot. -Cam [/code]

    wheel weight technical drawing

I don't own any weights, but I have significant available steel. Which is what some versions seem to be. I want to fabricate some from nothing.

    wheel weight technical drawing

Does such a thing exist? I have access to scrap steel and could easily fab up some of my own. But the time it would take to draw it and retrofit when they didn't fit the first time would kill the project. Figured someone out here may have a drawing with some dimensions that would work...
