Dug a ditch for a water line

I ran water line all over my place. Use a middle buster as deep as possible and then laid the pvc line and made two angle passes with my scrapper blade and ran over with tractor twice and done. It appears you live in Mississippi as I do. Freeze is no problem but wet soil and big cows could...

    9n Engine knock

The suggestions made are great and I hope one will solve your problem. If not, before you tear into the motor, remove the head and check for a loose sleeve. With head off crank engine and watch for a loose sleeve. It sounds just like a loose bearing.

Large pipe wrench + cheater bar on the PTO might free the locked in gear problem.

    Lift not working

I assume you put in new gaskets. Occasionally the one which seals the hydraulic lift cover to the tractor leaks on the inside. You can not see the leak. what happens is the gasket seal is blown and the hydraulic pressure (2,000 lbs+) strays inside. This could be your problem. If not...

    Hydralic Lift ou no lift.

A friend has a disk on his 8n. If you pull the lift handle all the way up you only get a slight movement up. We took the lift handle out of the guide and reinstalled it on the outside and once you pass the top of the guide it works find. It will lift the disk with someone sitting on it. We...

Stick a wooden peg in the timing hole. Push it against the fly wheel with motor running. Don't use metal.

    Stuck clutch

There was no sign of oil leak at the time it was assembled and no leaks under tractor now. The only thing I did was clean the pressure plate face and clean the clutch with clutch/brake cleaner. Don't know the history of the tractor as it was a barn find and had been setting up 5+/- years.

    Stuck clutch

Rebuilt motor in 8N and reassembled. Clutch look good and did not change. Did clean when assembled. Ran find for a day or two, little use and then it stuck. Drove it until I got it to release. Pulled up to a tree and burned it for a minute or two. Seemed ok for another day or so. Now...

    2N Grill Removal

Take a screwdriver and pry the pin(s) down at the top of the grill so they no longer are in the hole. You will need to pry the grill forward while prying the pins down. Once the grill is loose at the top, swing it down. There are two bolts at the bottom and you need only to loosen one...

    knock knock

Make sure you check the pick-up tube. Sometimes the crank impact will bread the weld at the pump.

    8N brake cover removal????

First soak them in Blaster liquid. I use a small chisel (screw driver might do) and tap on the outer edge to get it started. Once its moving, a large screw driver will extract it.

    Tape for shims?

I pulled the main caps off an 8N and removed the inserts. Each had a brown strip of tape on the back of each insert. The only thing I could imagine was some type of shim. Ever heard or seen this before. Would post pic if I knew how.

    Hydralic prime?

Helped a friend pull a Ford 2000 1962 apart and installed a new ring gear. After reassemble, no hydraulics. Attempted to prime pump but to no avail. Any suggestions.

    8n Removing sleeves

Flywheel doesn't have to be removed but the pressure plate and clutch does. Most engine mounts.
