    Cockshutt 40PD Generator Pulley Diameter

I know, and I have been using the tractor for over 15 years with the non-functional alternator and cobbled-up bracket. I bought it from my boss' estate sale last year and it is time to get the tractor to charge its own battery, as well as fixing the brakes, rebuilding the live pto (already...

    Cockshutt 40PD Generator Pulley Diameter

Does anyone know the original diameter of the Cockshutt 40PD generator pulley? Someone botched an alternator conversion on my tractor and I will be converting it back to original with a generator from a MF-65 (this generator cross-references as a match). I can tell from pictures that...

    Massey Ferguson MF65

I am helping a friend with two MF 65 tractors. One has a bad lower end and the other needs a valve job. He has already sent the bad head off to be rebuilt when the other one began to knock badly. He would like to take the head off of the one with the bad bottom end and put it on the other to...

Mag with Coil w external coil

This is a fairly common "repair" which is usually made after receiving a repair estimate at the local mag shop.

How much can I mill off the block

Loren is right. If you take 0.004" off of the head, then you will also need to remove about 0.004" from the step in the bore at the top of the block. Otherwise your sleeves will stick up too much. The sleeves must protrude 0.001-0.004" so that the cylinders and all of the other passages will...

    hydraulic problems still

Hydraulic oil does not compress. However, it does rust the inside of hydraulic systems. Air does compress, and is usually the source of hydraulic pump noise. It sounds like you either have an air leak on the suction side of the pump, or you have foaming hydraulic oil.

    Installing VAC-14 Rear Axle Seals

The aluminum can/shim stock goes between the seal and the axle so that you can slide it on without cutting it on the axle keyway or damaging it on the rough surface of the axle. The seal remains stationary on the shim stock and the shim stock slides on the axle. You remove the shim stock once...

Att Christopher Mikesell still looking for a hyd cyl tube

The external dimensions are the same, but some of the early ones are different internally. The early ones use a different type of snap ring to hold the cylinder cap in place.

Att Christopher Mikesell still looking for a hyd cyl tube

Byron, I do have it and it is in good condition, but the forum guidelines state that I can't sell things here on the discussion forums. You can send me an email with your preferred contact information by switching to classic view and clicking on the blue "send email" link on my post. If this...

    540 value ?

I removed and reinstalled an original axle seal on my VAC-14, 4 or 5 years ago. I still have no leaks. I used a PVC pipe which fit over the axle and positioned it so that it would only push on the outer rim of the seal. I worked around the seal slowly as I drove it straight in with a rubber...

    VAC-14 Clutch Return Spring?

I just stumbled on an answer to your question in my manual. Yes, there is supposed to be a second spring under the left floorboard. It goes from the front angle iron floorboard support to the hole in the pin in the throw-out rod clevis. There is no cotter key holding the pin in place, the...

    Voltage Regulator for VAC Case

It sounds like the generator from an early Massey Harris Pony. They use a cutout, not a regulator. I understand that they have a crude internal regulating element, and cannot use a normal regulator. My advice would be to get a generator that actually came from a VAC, and then try to work with...

    Voltage Regulator for VAC Case

Huh? Is it the original generator? If it is, then you should be able to get a replacement regulator or cutout. I suspect that there is some sort of misunderstanding.

    VAC-14 Sediment Bowl Screen

You can cut the screen down with a set of sharp snips or cutter-pliers so that it only overlaps with the gasket 1/2 way. This will allow the gasket to seal directly against the zinc casting. There are several different sizes and styles of sediment bowl assemblies, and sediment bowls are one of...
