john deere 2640 pto
Hey thank you for reply, The reason I am asking, this tractor belongs to a neighbor and I borrow it once in a while. I thought if it was an easy fix I would fix it for him for the use of it. john deere 2640 pto
Well there is a lever down by your left foot that puts the power take off in gear , then there is lever between the shifters that you pull up to turn on the pto, this is the lever that keeps dropping down and turning off the pto I don't have to use the clutch to turn it on or off.- chuckwood45

Hey Everyone Thanks for listening, I have a 2640 john deere, the pto shifter will slip out of gear every now and then, so I just pull it back in gear or in the on position, sometimes I have to hold it on for a while, but it is a pain when using the haybine. Hey everyone, Thanks for listening, I have a john deere 2640 1980, when you run the pto it some times slips out of gear, I just pull it back in gear most of the time or hold it for a while. Is this a major fix or some thing I can do my self to cure the problem. :roll:- chuckwood45
