    Installing crankshaft on 1950 B

    When I went to re-install my crankshaft, I noticed that the main bearings on both side are worn and looks like the metal is flaking. I'm getting new bearings, but was just wondering if they are basically a laminated metal?

    I agree with Bob on the firing order. Very easy to get 1 and 2 crossed. I would also pull the distributor and check the bushings.

    electrical on 9N?

    Caroline, when I had similar issues with my 8N I moved the grounding point from the battery box to a bolt for the coverplate for the steering gearbox. Had to buy a new longer groundstrap but it fixed me right up.

    Grade for 8n

    Safety should always be a concern with any piece of equipment. I would also be concerned about what might happen to those hills should you get heavy rains before you get good regrowth on the grass. Might make the ground rougher than it already is.
