Crankshaft main journals
Tom, Can you post back with what the shop finds. I would love to see what difference they come up with. I am learning a lot at this point, have a micrometer can "use" it but wonder how much difference a pro will come up with etc. I DO NOT want to suggest you may be less than right on just...- Dan (NYC)

ford 800 series distributor tune up question
Hi Everyone, I have read through the shop manual and owners manual about setting the distributor. They both seem to reccomend a timing light for final adjustment. How do all you guys work on these, is a timing light required? I am used to my ft mount 8N so far. Asalways Thank You for all... -

What do you think of these mowers?
Colin, I got a 6' ford 630 mower with my 8n and it can handle it even up hill as long as the 8n is in good running order. I usaully cut when grass is 6-8" but I don't cut it real short. I do find that I have to be careful of rocks etc. The blades that came with it were crap so I used them...- Dan (NYC)

Hydraulics question on 860 ford
Greetings All, I just cleaned the hydraulics and replaced the fluid on my 860 and after priming the pump the hydraulics raise but the are slow amd pulse as they raise the arms. I wanted to see what may be the culprit before I go in again. Alos I was wondering at what position on the quadrant... -

851: dry air cleaner conversion
If you have the original air cleaner I would clean it up and use it that will be close to free. The caked on dirt can be cleaned out the cannister washed up and reused for ever. all it will need is some oil for the oil cup/bath. HTH Dan -- nyc -

Differential
John, He basically has a 601 with the 40 describing the "package" which is a 4 speed with PTO and 3 point hitch. So any 4 speed parts for a 601 series will work. HTH Dan --nyc -

860 hydraulic pump priming
I was hoping someone could identify the ports on my pump. It is a piston pump and I think I need to re-prime it. Currently the lift arms are not working, though there is enough fluid and it is in position control mode. I did look in port A and tried adding some fluid to it but that didn't...
