    2640 Hydraulics

I did not do anything to the control spools or shims. Could I have a problem with the pressure control valve or possibly the relief. Today I drained all the oil out and pulled the filter and suction screen did not appear to be plugged or dirty. I also pulled the relief and when I was inspecting...

    2640 Hydraulics

I already rebuilt the steering valve and replaced all the O-rings. I was really hoping that it would fix my problem.

    2640 Hydraulics

I have the loader hooked up with quick connect fitting with them both disconnected the steering does not work as it should, and the 3 point works fine. I figured that disconnecting the loader would rule that out. I will still try what you suggested.

The control valve is installed with the loader is for closed center. I believe I had to install a plug to make it closed center. Also, the Rockshaft is operating fine I also replaced the seals a few years ago.

    2640 Hydraulics

I have been having problems with the steering on my 2640 tractor. It is an early model. When the tractor is running and in park the power steering does not work when I begin the move the steering seems to work as it should. I have a front-end loader, and it is plumbed with a tee on the back of...

    Clutch adjustment

I have my new clutch and pressure plate back together on my 2640. I do not have the adjustment tool I believe it is a JD227. Is there another way to make sure it is adjusted correctly. Thanks

    2640 clutch

I had a rattle and vibration noise coming from my clutch when the tractor was at idle. I split the tractor to take care of an oil leak in the clutch housing so now I am looking at the clutch and I want to replace it. I have a 2640 with an independent pto and a single stage clutch. I...

    2640 rear main seal

I have just split my 2640 to do a clutch replacement and to check why oil is leaking in the clutch housing. I know it is usually a rear main seal but could it be coming from where the tachometer slide through. When I split it I noticed a lot more oil toward the rear of the housing. I'm probably...

    Loader Lift Cylinders

I had them hooked up to the frame. It seemed that the left cylinder was getting pulled and pushed by the right side and making a lot of squealing noise. It just seems strange because I have never had this problem before.

    Loader Lift Cylinders

I just had both lift cylinders rebuilt with new rods and seals. I put them back on the loader and cannot get them to operate correctly. The Right cylinder will extend all the way before the left cylinder starts. They also return in the same order. I cannot get them to operate together. I didn't...
