    Indexing Spark Plugs

A big "thank you" to all who responded. I have the Pertronix EI and it has made a huge difference, not only in ease of starting, but also in how it runs. It seems to have more power than with the points.

    Indexing Spark Plugs

I saw this concept mentioned in a post some time ago, and it got me to thinking.(dangerous, I know) I suppose anything we can do to make these old tractors run better or be more efficient is definetly a plus. So I'm wondering if anyone knows how to index plugs. I understand it involves pointing...

    ForJohn(UK)

So glad to see you posting again, John. I know you-all are still not 100%, but I"m sure you"ll be well soon. A suggestion, if you don"t mind: if you and your wife are taking anti-biotics, ask your doc if he can also perscribe a pro-biotic, since anti-biotics destroy the "good" bacteria, the...

Next time, you oughta try Hartville Kitchen for lunch or dinner. The food is great. Downside: long lines, usually, but worth it!

    Bob(Aust) pertronix?

I put one on my 1948 TE 20 (sn 28383). With help from John(UK), I contacted vintage performance(dot)com/retrorockets/lucas.htm, who provided the exact unit I needed. Part number is LU145 and it cost about $93 USD. Best investment I could have made. My distributor is a Lucas, model #D3A4. Good luck.

Missing ID plate on the stering post

Thanks, Dan for posting the pic. The plate shown is identical to the one on my TE 20. It is in good condition, but is oxidized. I'm wondering how to polish it up and then coat it to stop the oxidation process. Any suggestions will be welcomed.

    TO 20 hydraulics

Last fall, I replaced the relief/safety valve on my '48 TE 20. I could not get a wrench on it, reaching through the side cover. No wrench I own would work. Maybe there is one that will. I had to drop the pump out of the tractor. The relief valve was VERY TIGHT and took some extra effort to remove.

Missing ID plate on the stering post

I just saw a post dated 2008-01-07 from Bob(Aust) in which he said repro plates are available in the UK. Perhaps he knows where they can be ordered from, or John(UK) may know. Let us know what you find, please. Dennis
