Greg, Just happened to see your post. I own one of these double burner heaters, too. Mark, Sometimes the shaft that supports the butterfly gets worn to the extent that it lets air come in around it too much. 51 LA Case on propane
zach, The propane regulator that I use on my Case LAs is the BEAM 120A. If you find that the old one is bad and you need a replacement, the Beam 120A regulator will work really good for you. Sounds like you have the front of the engine apart. You would need to align the dot of the camshaft with the dot on the crankshaft. I am not familiar with the DC so I'm not sure what is there, but most engines have the marks pointing at each other. Maybe someone out there has more info on it...- Derrol Wells

Rusty Cooling System on 51 DC
Drain the cooling system,remove the head. Let the block dry out inside, then with a vacuum cleaner and some 1/2 inch copper tubing, vacuum out the dry rust flakes that are in the block. Tired Old Case 600 PIC
