I headed to the woods about 9:00am. Fog froze to trees, bright sun, temp. 12F. Got some wood cut and out. Haven't had to use the tractors and my wood trailers yet, and hope I don't. It's been pretty nice to drive up to the woods in a PU
with a heater rather than having a cold wind blowing in my face. My Dad gave me the PU. If I had 10 cents for every stick of wood HE, loaded and unloaded from it I would be a Millionair. I guess nuts don't fall far from the tree.

Nice pictures, like the stack of wood. reminds me of all the years my Dad and I cut firewood in the winter months. Seems like we got 5 or 6 heats from cutting and moving the wood before we actually burnt it in the furnace in our house. Forgot to mention the nice CASE by the pile too, is it a 430.?

Hi Loren,
Great pictures,I can really see the peace,what a wonderful place to live.
Oh by the way,looking at your wood pile,I can why you were a good dealer also!:)Do you measure them cobs?!!!

Duane;
Dad's old truck is a HD 1/2Ton with 2 leaves added. The splitter I use was new in 1978. I put the 4th engine on it this fall, a $109.00 HF special. 15 years ago I put a 3pt hitch on it, and on my Kubota B2150 I split wood with the 3pt all the way up, no bending over, and it pushes the wood off the end in windrows as I move along the blocked logs. As for the saw it's a new this fall, Stihl 180 Mini Boss. My old 700 Mac. was getting tired and very heavy. I love the "light weight" 180. It cuts as fast as the old heavy weight Mac, and my back feels much better at the end of the day. I am very fussy about block length and if you look closely at the saw in the forground you will see a white colored tube on the handle. That is a peice of 3/8" PEX tubing tie-locked to the handle, serving as a gauge so that every block is the same length. The PEX is flexable and doesn't interfere with any cutting or felling operations.

It's a 441. Use to be a hiway mower tractor with a Hyd mower on it, but it got rolled over and broke in half. It got brazzed back together and runs great. The welder who put it back together was one tallented craftsman.

Out here in the Panhandle of Texas there are no woods where we can go cut firewood, the good stuff that is. This is prairie country. The good firewood is normally hauled from Oklahoma. We pay $300 per cord and they bring a (short cord) or about 3/4 of a cord. We feel cheated, but because we use mostly natural gas we don't use much wood. A cord will last us about five years. And if we don't have to go to another state to get it, we can stand a little lose. We got about three inches of rain in the last 14 months here. Trees die in that kind of environment and all of Texas has suffered greatly. There will be a lot of dead trees in Central Texas to be cut up for sure. Your wood stack looks really neat and well done, good work. We always enjoy the pics. Thanks,---Derrol in Texas---

THAT is one impressive pile of wood! I burn little over a cord a year. What you got there looks like I could 4 yrs. without cutt'en. Also I see you got 2 blue "canning jars" for silos, Looks like a nice dairy operation there, how many girls you milk'en there? God Bless

Wow ! nice clean wood . Looks like a few veneer standing I hope those don't go up in smoke . We just cut the trees that don't make a log and be sure not to cut the canopy heavy or the grandchildren will never see many logs . Great work and hats off to ya !! merry xmad to all

Ha! You are making me look like the sloppiest guy around when it comes to cutting wood. Cut hedge mostly and anything straight is posts. Everything else goes in the stove. If I do stack any, its not pretty.
